Khaki Campbell Duck

Features

  • A Utility strain of this domesticated duck, bred for its high level of egg production. The breed was originally developed in England at the end of the 19th century. They have Mallard, Rouen and Runner duck blood in them.
  • If kept in ideal conditions, they can lay up to 300 large, white eggs a year, which are very rich in taste.
  • Good natured and very friendly. They are excellent foragers, keeping gardens and ponds free of, slugs, snails and worms. They also rarely go broody, and are reluctant flyers, so wing- clipping is generally considered unnecessary.
  • These Ducks do need access to clean water in which to paddle and bathe, though they can be kept with a limited water source as they are more of a splasher than a swimmer.

What We Think

Khaki Campbells are one of our favorate and most popular ducks at the Poultry Centre. They are very easy to keep as they are not too excitable and take well to human interaction; they are a great bird to have around children. There is no need to worry about them flying off as they can't quite carry their large bodies. A really lovely duck at a great price.
