Buff Orpington Pair

2 just arrived

Buff Orpingtons are probably the most popular and sought after rare breeds. They are incredibly friendly and very easy to tame as they can not resist mixed corn. They are lovely to have around, when these pairs get to full size they will definitely be a great presence in your garden.

Belgian D'Anver Hen

6 just arrived

The Belgian d'Anver is a lovely looking bird that comes in a range of over fourteen registered colours. They are lively and great fun to have around, are very friendly and will become very tame. Belgian d'Anvers will lay a few eggs and are good mothers.

Japanese Quail Quartet

2 just arrived

Quails are a great productive pet to keep, they are minimal fuss and are very entertaining. If you have an old pet cage the set up costs of quail can be next to nothing. All you need is a small drinker and feeder and a bag of food and this will last a quartet of quail a long time. Bedding can be very simple and cleaning out is not needed too frequently as they do not create much mess. Japanese quail are very good layers and especaly easy to keep, just make sure you don't let them out, they are incredibly difficult to catch! This quartet consists of 1 male and 3 females.

Khaki Campbell Duck

10 just arrived

Khaki Campbell Ducks are one of our favourite and most popular ducks at the Poultry Centre. They are very easy to keep as they are not too excitable and take well to human interaction; they are a great bird to have around children. There is no need to worry about them flying off as they can't quite carry their large bodies. A really lovely duck at a great price.

Ranger Hen

48 just arrived

Ranger hens are brilliant for beginnners. Your classic looking brown hen that lays lots and lots of eggs, you'll be getting one nearly every single day. Rangers have a great temperament, they are docile and very friendly, so if there are young children about or someone who isn't too sure about birds then this is the breed for you. They mix really well with Amber Stars and Rhode Rocks so you can have a nice mix of colours and you don't have to worry about them not getting on. They have been our best seller for many years now, and for good reason.

Amber Star Hen

40 just arrived

The Amber is a great first time breed, they are incredibly easy to keep. Mainly due to their extremely friendly and docile nature. A simple but great looking bird that will lay relentlessly, you wont have many days a year without an egg. They mix really well with smaller hybrids like the Ranger and Rhode Rocks as they all have a similar temperament and are of similar size so there shouldn't be one getting bullied. The best way to get kicked off with keeping chickens, and if you have had them before and loved them, then please review them and let people know.

Cou Cou Hen

38 just arrived

Its a very attractive bird based on a French utility bird so egg numbers are good, not as high as a Ranger or and Amber but their eggs are dark brown, speckled, and said to be richer in taste. They are a larger hybrid so they mix well with the Sussex and Blues which are also slightly larger. If you are a first time buyer look more towards the smaller hybrids as they tend to be more docile, but if you are a competent keeper then you would be silly not to have a Cou Cou.

Blue Hen

40 just arrived

A very hardy and attractive bird. Copes very well in our cold winters and is very strong against infection, Blues will always be the last hens to have a problem and the last to stop laying. If hens are more livestock than pets to you then this is a great bird to have. Having said that they are still very friendly and docile. A hardy all rounder that is good on all fronts, hassle free and a lovely breed to have around.

Columbian Blacktail Hen

37 just arrived

The Blacktail in an up and coming favorite, maybe due to it's recognition as 'the Waitrose laying hen.' It's a very attractive breed, with a chestnut plumage and a black tipped tail and flashes of back on the wings and neck. It has a lovely temperament but can get a bit greedy maybe due to the large amount of rich flavored eggs they produce. They are a great first time hen they love human attention and being spoilt. A great productive pet.

Rhode Rock Hen

37 just arrived

Like most Rhode Island hybrids the Rhode Rock has a great temperament and is a great first time hen. Also being bread with a Plymouth Rock they are very hardy and lay a lovely brown egg. Rhode Rocks integrate well with smaller hybrids like the Ranger and Amber Star, but because they are a Plymouth Rock hybrid they will also mix well with Cou Cous and Blues. A lovely looking bird that can mix very well with most birds and will lay a large amount. A great place to start, especaly if you looking to add more to your flock later on.

Sussex Hen

40 just arrived

The Sussex has our special recommendation, it really is a lovely hybrid. It has an incredibly docile temperament, so it's great with children and other hybrids and will still lay up yo 280 eggs a year. They are a great addition to existing flocks they are a larger hybrid so they wont end up getting picked on and they wont cause much of a fuss. A classic British bird with classic British manners, great looks, and very hardy. A must have in any flock.

White Hen

20 just arrived

A really entertaining breed, plenty of energy and character and great fun to have around. If you have had hens and are looking for something different then look no further. They can be flighty and difficult to handle but once they are tamed they love human attention, they have a very individual character which is very different to any other of our hybrids, however there is no need to worry about them integrating of getting on with other birds as they will always be happy to do their own thing. They will also lay around 330 gorgeous white eggs a year which are very rich and tasty.

Sussex Rock Hen

20 just arrived

Sussex Rocks are very similar to the normal Sussex in temperament, however they look completely opposite with a black body and white flecks through the neck and tail, and sometimes through the wing. They work very well in a free range set up as they are very hardy, they also mix well with other birds so introducing some to your existing flock will not be a problem. A really lovely hybrid that anyone will enjoy, would go really well with some normal Sussex hybrids.
